The Importance of having a Certification of Pool/Spas Operators (CPO)
A Certified Pool Operator (CPO) is required to expand the technician’s abilities and awareness by attending classes and workshops. They must successfully complete a written examination that demonstrates the insight necessary to properly operate a public swimming pool/spa in a safe and sanitary way. A thorough knowledge of the laws and rules established by regulatory bodies concerning pool/spa operation is required.
The certificate awarded to certify Pool/Spa Operators demonstrates to the public that the holder has satisfactorily completed the approved CPO and is eligible to perform the functions of a pool operator. Laws governing pool design, operation, purification and sanitation may vary from time to time. It is the responsibility of the CPO to stay informed about these regulations and to maintain records of any revisions or changes of these laws and regulations.
