The Technology We Use To Keep Your Pool and Spa Facilities Sparkling Clean and Healthy

Maintaining your Pool and Spa Facilities in a sparkling clean and healthy condition involves a working knowledge of the science of chemical balance. Ocean Springs Tech takes pride in its expertise of creating the proper chemical applications that will keep your pool in superb condition, while protecting the environment.

The Listings below will familiarize you with the terms and applications used in aquatic maintenance:

It is necessary to apply a periodic drain/acid wash treatment to your pool and spa, which prolongs the life span of your pool and spa.
With a drain/acid wash, only certain chemicals compatible to the plaster may be used. However some risks are involved with these types of chemicals that are not part of the daily maintenance and should be used with caution. Your Pool Technician will inform you about the details involved with these procedures in order to avoid any problems.

Draining of the swimming pool water is common practice as a periodic preventative maintenance procedure.
Normally, draining the pool water is done when pool water becomes hard or laden with excessive minerals. When this situation occurs, it is necessary to drain the water as soon as possible.
Removing the water is not a problem, but you should be aware of issues that could arise and how to avoid them. Once the water is drained, the pool may rise out of the ground, a condition often caused by hydrostatic pressure (excessive moisture or ground water in the soil). The pool, now exposed to open air, may cause tiles to lift, plaster to shrink, expand, crack, blister, flake or pop off. Those reactions are out of the Technicians’ hands.
Draining the pool water during the wetter time of the year as well as not leaving the pool empty for more than 48 hours during the hot or dry weather season before refilling can avoid these problems. Any possible repairs should be undertaken immediately and the water refilled as soon as possible.

Acid Wash is a normal procedure when stains and minerals build up on the pool’s surface.
It is then recommended to use an acid wash to eliminate them. Usually staining or mineral buildup takes months or years to accumulate. Acid is the most common chemical used to resolve this problem and must be administered with utmost care. When applying acid to the plaster the surface may etch, become rough or expose aggregate in the plaster mix, mostly in low quality plaster and also depending on the concentration of the acid. Possible reactions of this nature are relatively low and not the result of the Technician.

Chlorine Wash:
Chorine wash is recommended to dissolve metal stains and calcium buildup on pool plaster. It also restores brightness to the plaster.tech cleaning a swimming pool and spa

Filter Maintenance:
The point of backwashing is to reverse the flow of water through the filter removing solids and waste trapped in the filter bed. To be successful, the workflow of the water should have a flow of 15-20 GPM per square foot of filter area passing through the filter in the reverse direction. This helps to fluidize the sand bed, loosening any solids trapped or compacted in the bed and lifting out the solids, transporting them as filter waste. The time it takes to perform a backwash is approximately two to five minutes and it will help to keep the filter clean.
